Bud Cauley's family had witnessed his emotional comeback victory in Canada.

The final round of the RBC Canadian Open had plenty of drama at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley. Strong wind and rain created tough conditions for the players. Officials changed the Sunday schedule to three-player groups with split tees because of the weather threat.

Cauley made a strong back-nine charge to secure the title, while Matt Fitzpatrick and Viktor Hovland kept pressure on him until the end. Fitzpatrick finished second after an eagle on the 18th hole, while Hovland claimed third place.

The fight for Open Championship spots also added more pressure to the leaderboard. Suber finished at 13-under after a final-round 70 and shared fourth place with Jimmy Stanger, Brice Garnett and Svensson. The players battled for three available spots at the major championship.

The Official World Golf Ranking system helped break ties between players with the same tournament score. The rankings from the start of the tournament week decided the order. The system rewarded players for their overall record instead of one tournament result.

The rule played a key role after four non-exempt players finished at 13-under par in a tie for fourth place. Suber and Svensson had higher world rankings and earned the final two Open Championship spots at Royal Birkdale. Garnett and Stanger missed out despite the same final score. The result showed the importance of world ranking points for players on the tour.
